Liz Smith psychotherapist

I   have been a psychotherapist for over fifteen years. I graduated from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration with an M.A. degree in 1979. I also graduated with  a  BA  degree from the University of Michigan in  in Sociology  with Distinction. in 1976.

I  have worked in child welfare,  diverse mental health settings, hospitals inpatient and outpatient, foster care ,  in home health and  many other places as a clinical therapist.. I have been in private practice since 1998. I  am a clinical social worker with  licenses in the states of Illinois, Arizona, Michigan and California.

I  routinely see insurance and  EAP clients , individuals, couples, and families, . I also see private pay clients  or those with out of network benefits. Please ask me if you have any questions determining  how we can bill for any sessions or consultations.

I have   offices in Glendale and   Scottsdale,.Arizona.

In 2004,2005    I participated in anxiety and depression  free screening day for the local Illinois  community as part of a National effort sponsored by Freedom from Fear  based in New York. Press
releases were printed in the Northwest Herald and Chicago  Tribune community sections.

My mission is to   incorporate creative efforts  in order to successfully help clients.  basing my success on working extensively with  clients over the years in different settings.
I am  trained as a clinical social worker with a background in psychoanalytic psychotherapy but am also eclectic  meaning I use many different treatment theories, models, and methods in which to draw upon to treat clients. I keep up to date by continuously attending continuing education seminars and classes to maintain the state licenses  requirements .
While all efforts are made to be successful  in helping clients problem solve and resolve issues, and many clients do feel relief of symptoms and feel more positive given tools to help cope best with situations or relationships or conflicts of self and life , as said, there are no guarantees .
Benefits of treatment can be better communication with those  in work or school environments, or with family and/or self  Growth in understanding  or insight into what has been bothering one offers  other benefits. I try to help people help themselves and believe given the right tools and support  many will.
